Yes, you need a plan.

Yes, you need to know where you want to go.

And yes, you need some idea how you will get there, but the bottom line is that you really don’t know any of that until you start executing.

When you start executing. You learn. When you learn, you can execute better. When you execute better, a strategy unfolds. Then, you can document and communicate it to rally your entire team around that strategy. Finally, you once again and with your team, start executing that strategy.
